A few days before new years eve, I saw "Avatar" without 3D. Yesterday, I saw it with 3D. It's expensive as hell, but I saw it twice. It's THAT good.
But the story aint that good. It's a concept that has been used at least 100 times before: A guy enters an unknown society, learns their way of doing things, meets a girl that he likes, then a tradgedy occurs where his own people are the bad guys, he is thought to be a traitor, then returns and makes things right. And throughout the whole film, every death of different key characters is just as predictable. Still, this concept has been used so many times because it works. It fits this kind of movie, but since I could predict almost everything in the whole film, I can't give it the top score. It lands on 8,5/10.
Yesterday, I also watched "The Descent". GO WATCH THAT MOVIE! It scary as all fuck. A group of girls venture out to explore a cave, where things go horribly wrong. Some kind of creatures live down in the caves, and the girls has to try to stay alive and find a way out. It ends up being a scary, bloody, claustophobic and fucked up nightmare of a film. It's a great watch, and the only things you could really predict was one or two scares, as well as the first death (she was stupid as hell, so it figures). Did I mention how bloody it is? There are one scene where a girl crawls around in guts, only to fall down in a pond of blood. It's fucked up, but awesome!
